what do you do when
you get a phone call at 3:40 on sunday morning from the police that your house has been broken into, and do you want to press charges on the girl- hell yes!
you bake muffins.
i am sick of this nutcase. she is my step-son's ex-girlfriend. they dated only a few months and have been broken up for over a year. this time she threw the main cuircit breaker to the house thinking it would cut off the alarm, luckily the alarm has a battery back up. so when the police came, there was no power on in the house, and the front door was open. the canine unit found her in a closet. now, you'd think if you set off a house alarm you'd leave, right? guess not.
had to drive 2 1/2 hours home to lock the frickin' door, then tom saw that she had trashed the pool first, all the patio furniture, and all the huge potted plants (now broken) in the pool.
this is the second time she has broken into the house, the first time tom and i were in chicago, step-son didn't tell us til last week. and he didn't have her arrested. she has also driven her car into our garage, and been arrested outside our house. charming. this is not a teenager, she's 33.
so now you know why i've been incognito, i'm so ready to be back in hibernation in lake placid. south florida has too many wackos. i debated whether or not to put this on the blog, but i've been too upset not to.
oh, and i've been knitting river, the stole from rowan 38 by sharon miller. using some lovely dyed mohair from alchemy, montreat path. i made a chart for the pattern, my brain can't deal with written rows any longer.

Yikes, it sounds like you have quite a situation there. I hope that pressing charges will convince her to cut it out.
What a mess? Sounds like she's not playing with a full deck. Hope she gets some help.

I am so sorry to hear of this. One would think that at 33 she would know better.
Wow! Good idea to press charges, and I suppose you could also try to recover the cost of undoing her vandalism to your pool area, too. I don't know if she'll get the message at that point, but she won't get it if you do nothing. Good luck with this, and keep on knitting to relieve the stress!

33? I think it is time she grew up! What a bummer. It sounds like she has some serious issues going on. Sounds like she is not happy about some counseling you may have given step-son.
Gosh, this girl certainly has a problem! Why isn't she locked away by now? But it's good to hear that nothing worse happened - and your muffins sure look yummy!
Can you lump the past vandalisms into your charges so she has to fix the door, too?

I found River pretty, but deadly boring to knit. Maybe if I had used a yarn I liked better!
Good Grief, Vanessa! What a mess. I hope the girl can straighten up her act and soon! Press charges and maybe someone in her family will help her get the help she obviously needs!
On another note, the knitting is gorgerous, of course!
Clearly she is mentally disturbed. You might want to get a restraining order while you're at it. And encourage your step-son to do so as well.
OMG, the break-in. How horrible, especially since you know it was intentional. Well, I guess most are, but she knows you. Creepy.
