you've got to know

when to hold 'em
know when to fold 'em
know when to walk away
know when to frog

while visiting rebecca in gainesvelle, we checked out hanks. hanks has an excellent selection of sock yarns. my one purchase, a merino/silk blend from rocket yarn. googling i see rocket yarn also has an etsy shop.

the yarn has such a lovely hand, it cried out for lace.

last february at madrona, i picked up evelyn clark's new book, knitting lace triangles , what a marvelous resource!

i knew i wanted to use the leaf pattern, but i didn't want to just knit straight rows of leaf, then medallion, etc.

so i got the brilliant idea of interspersing individual leaf motifs into a ground of medallion motifs.

coil-less pins mark which are the leaf motifs.

unfortunately the yarn is too busy for this design, hence the frogging.

i'll try it again with a solid green yarn.

start over with all leaf lace, adding size 6 beads as accents.

much better

don't you think?

shimmo is growing up so fast! he was 4 months on september 2nd.

rajah's favorite place to snooze is on top if the cable box.

ah, nice and warm.

a rude awakening!

take that you stupid black dog!

gentle leader? you call this instument of torture gentle?

maybe if i rub my head on the grass long enough, i can get it off.

shimmo is nearly as long as shotsie now-

i can't believe how fast shimmo is growing up :-)

What a shot catching that towards the cat! Man, I missed your trip...that was absolutely GRAND! I've done the inland passage on the ferry, but I'm coming back to look again...love the fiber you bought and the train trip! By the way, I love your colors of your shawl! Don't worry I'm still here!

Your shawl is stunning!

I hope that you aren't being too badly affected by all the hurricane's rain.

Thank you for all the Shimmo photos! I can just about reach out and cuddle him! Does he still smell like puppy? I like the leaf shawl approach, very attractive.

Your baby is stewpendous and reminds me of Tankie Wankerson!

I think that both of the shawls were purty but the solid green makes sense, of course.

I finished MY portion of the Autumnal silk/merinooooooooooo...
